Sandi is our collaborative pianist who brings exceptional versatility and musical expertise to the South Bay Singers
Her nuanced approach seamlessly integrates piano and vocal parts, providing a strong foundation for rehearsals and performances
The South Bay Singers originated as the Gavilan College Choir under the direction of Phil Robb, who led the group for 15 years until his retirement in 2011
After Phil Robb's departure, Brant Ruggles took over as conductor. Due to budget cuts, the choir transitioned from the college curriculum to the Community Education department in 2012
Later in 2012, the choir became an independent community choir and adopted the name South Bay Singers
nder Ruggles' leadership, the choir performed notable works such as Rutter's Magnificat and Vivaldi's Gloria
Kathy Esteves-Bates took over as conductor, leading successful performances including the Spring Songfest 2022 and the 'Welcome, Christmas!' concert in December 2022
Esteves-Bates has since stepped down, and Jonathan Souza is now the Artistic Director and Conductor for the Spring 2024 semester
